Sumo’s origins can be traced back 1,500 years, when it was dedicated to the gods for a successful rice harvest. • Day 1: Arrive Tokyo

  Transfer from Narita Airport by Limousine Bus. Accommodation at the Shinjuku Washington Hotel in Shinjuku for 4 nights. Shinjuku is one of Tokyo’s liveliest areas, teeming with shopping, restaurants and entertainment, as well as the major railway station.

• Day 2:Tokyo

  Enjoy a morning tour of Tokyo, including Tokyo Tower, Meiji Shrine, and the Imperial Palace grounds, and drive by Akasaka Guest House and the National Diet Building. The tour ends in the Ginza shopping area (B).

• Day 3: Tokyo

  This afternoon experience Sumo, Japan’s national sport. Travel by train to visit the Sumo Museum, then enjoy the program of sumo matches. Headphones offer English commentary on the wrestling bouts. (B)

• Day 4:Tokyo - Mount Fuji - Tokyo

  Travel by coach from Tokyo to Mt Fuji, for a panoramic view from the 5th station (approx. 2500 metres altitude).
